Preparing For Swarm Season In Southern Maine

Warm weather is right around the corner and here at Southern Maine Bee Removal we are gearing up for swarming season.

We don’t just wait for folks to reach out to us with bees that have become problems by swarming. We proactively set out to provide swarming bees with enticing homes that we can use to get them back into proper management. These specially made boxes are called swarm traps. These are wooden boxes very similar to those we use to house bees on the ground. The major difference is that these swarm traps are especially designed to be appealing to wild bees and present them with an opportunity to establish a new home that is too good to pass up.

Scholars and scientists have spent years studying what makes an ideal home for a hive of honey bees. And we synthesize that available knowledge and expertise with our own experiences to create our swarm traps. Every time a wayward swarm chooses one of our traps instead of someone’s attic to form a colony, we get to add those bees to our apiary, the bees get a home where they will be protected, nurtured and cared for and you never tens of thousands of unwanted house guests! A win all around.
